Dog Training Classes:
Training Loyal Companions offers a variety of dog training classes and workshops in Winnipeg to help you along with your new canine companion. If a new puppy needs some training or an older pet needs better listening skills, we have a class to suit you and your family. All classes use only positive reinforcement techniques, treats, verbal praise and petting to get desired results.

Training Workshops:
Training Workshops are to help you with specific doggie problems. Training workshops are for humans. No dogs please!! A demo dog will be chosen for that specific workshop.
Chairs and take home information package provided!

One on One in Home Training Puppy Play Dates
Puppy Manners Class Level One:
- One class once a week for 6 weeks.
- Each class is 45 min.
- 1st class is no puppies/dogs. We go over training techniques, leashes, collars, recommended treats, nipping, chewing, house training and lots more!
- Must be in the home for 1 week prior to group training classes. This helps establish a bond with your puppy.
- Puppy Manners Level One is for puppies age 12 weeks to 1 year.
- Limited to 8 puppies per class.
- Vaccines: Two canine distemper vaccines and kennel cough vaccine (recommended). Bring vaccine certificates on first day of class.
- Last class is your graduation class! Treats for the puppies and you will receive your graduation certificate with report card!
Class description: In this class you will learn eye contact, sit, down, stand, sit stay, down stay, leave it, impulse control exercises, socialization skills, distration work and more! This class uses food luring (classical conditioning) to teach desired behaviors.
You may be thinking '...but my dog already knows most of these training commands'. Yes! They may already know sit, but can they do sit with other dogs and other people in the room!?
Cost: All 6 classes is $105.00 plus GST = $110.25.
Puppy Manners Class Level Two: 
Puppy Manners level Two is taught with a clicker. A clicker is a little plastic box with a piece of metal (tongue) that makes a clicking sound when pushed and released. Clickers mark any behaviors we like and lets the dog know by clicking desired behaviors. The click = human word “yes” or “that’s correct”. Clickers create a relationship with clicker and food.
Class description: This class is a free shaping class which includes teaching: Automatic attention, reinforcing calming behaviors from your dog, powering the clicker, drop it and take it exercises, mat work, moving back, touch (target work), training a polite greeting, distraction work, socialization skills and much more!
- One class once a week for 6 weeks.
- Each class is 45 min.
- 1st class is no puppies/dogs. We go over powering the clicker, understanding operant conditioning, and practicing our clicker training skills!
- Must be in the home for 1 week prior to group training classes.
- Limited to 7 puppies per class.
- This class is for puppies and dogs of any age!
- Vaccines: Two canine distemper vaccines and kennel cough vaccine (recommended). Bring vaccine certificates on first day of class.
This class is ideal for:
- High energy and easily excitable dogs
- Independent breeds such as northern breeds or terriers
- If you have referred to your dog as “Stubborn” or “Impossible”
- Small dogs
- If you are looking for a class to help sharpen up your dogs listening skills and increase your bond with your dog, I would recommend the Puppy Manners Level Two class
Cost: Cost for all 6 classes is $105.00 plus GST=$110.25.

Who’s Walking Who?:
Class Description: Who's Walking Who is a 6 week course based only on walking nice on a leash! This class will help you understand why your dog pulls on their leash, and how to keep them focused on you instead of their environment. We will use yummy treats to help teach your dog what we as humans would like, and what doesn't suit our life style. Teaching your dog to stay calm and focused when other dogs are walking by, as well as self control, will help decrease that pesky behavior of pulling until your arms hurt!
This class is 3 classes of foundation work and 3 classes of teaching loose leash walking techniques. HINT: A very easy training technique to decrease pulling, is teaching your dog to follow you!
- One class once a week for 6 weeks.
- Each class is 45min
- 1st class is no puppies/dogs. We go over training techniques, leashes, collars, recommended treats, understand why dogs pull on their leash, and start your homework!
- Limited to 7 puppies/dogs per class.
- Vaccines: Two canine distemper vaccines and kennel cough vaccine (recommended). Bring vaccine certificates on first day of class.
Cost: For all 6 classes $105.00 plus GST = $110.25
Recall:
This training workshop is designed to train your dog to come when called no matter what the situation. Teaching a recall is based on a relationship built on mutual trust and respect, and is best taught over time. This training workshop teaches common mistakes with owners that easily teach your dog not to come when called. Using positive reinforcement techniques, we will teach you how to save your dog’s life with a reliable recall.
Cost: $25.00/person plus GST = $26.25 and $10.00 each additional family member (spouses and children) plus GST = $36.75
This training workshop is 1 hour 15 min - 1 hour 30 min.
Understanding Barking:
Understanding that barking is a normal canine behavior, is difficut when it becomes exaggerated, due to; attention seeking behaviors, stress or canine “yelling”. Understanding our furry friends needs and canine language is a must when owning a dog. In this training workshop we will cover the 10 most common barking problems, understanding why your dog is barking and solutions to the problems.
This workshop includes:
- Barking when guests come into your home
- What are “boundaries” and how do they create a barking dog?
- Fearful dog barking
- Understanding why dogs bark due to chronic stress
- Barking when meeting other dogs
- Caution Barking = Stay Away barking
- Barking due to Guarding
- How humans reinforce barking.
- Barking when stopping to greet another human
......and more!!
Please remember that barking is the symptom of a problem, I am not at your home so finding out the reasons for the barking may be difficult.

Jumping and Greeting Behaviors:
Does your dog jump all over your guests when coming into your home? Does your dog jump on you when coming home? Then this workshop is for you! Understanding why dogs jump up for greeting and how to get rid of that pesky behavior!

- Teaching manners at the door and greeting new people
- Decrease over excitement when door bell rings
- Understanding jumping behaviors and learn how to deal with them
- Teaching mat work and understanding how it works
- What to do when company comes over

Bringing Home Baby:
Congratulations!! Your family is growing! A new little new family member is arriving into your home soon. This training workshop is designed to help the transition when first bringing baby home to your canine companion. It covers common questions such as licking the baby, sniffing the baby, and how to deal with an attention seeking dog. This training workshop covers:
- Creating safety first!
- Reading your dogs body language and understanding when your dog is stressed
- What to do upon arrival home with your newborn
- Creating safe boundaries for your dog
...and much more!!
This training workshop is 2 hours with a break inbetween.
Costs: $25.00 per person plus GST = $26.25 and $10.00 each additional family member (spouses and children) plus GST = $36.75 for two.
Chewing, Biting and Mouthing
If you have a young puppy or older puppy who is having difficulty keeping their mouths and teeth off everything, then this training workshop is for you!
This training workshop will cover:
- Teaching bite inhibition to humans and other dogs (the respect of their jaws and teeth)
- Decrease and eliminate the frequency of mouthing arms and legs
- Decrease and eliminate chewing on non doggie items
- Biting too rough with humans and other dogs

This training workshop is 1 hour 15 min - 1 hour 30 min.

One on One in Home Training:
Training Loyal Companions also offers one on one in home dog training and consultations. From puppy training to behavior problems, we can work from in your home. You may be required to fill out a questionnaire before the training session.
One on one training offers:
- Keeping your dog in a comfortable environment
- No travel time for dog owners.
- Accommodating busy schedules.
- You will receive an individualized training program to suit your dogs needs
- Follow up phone calls/emails.

Training Loyal Companions also offers pre-puppy consults. If you are not sure what puppy is right for your family, I can help you decide! Also, what to have ready when puppy come home. Semi private group training classes are available. This limits the class to 2 dogs and keeps distractions at a tolerable level for you and your dog.
Puppy Play Dates:
Training Loyal Companions understands the importance of exercise and socialization, therefore every 2nd Sunday you can bring your puppy to the training facility for all off leash play. Teaching your puppy social skills, bite inhibition (their jaw strength) will guide you in the right direction for a happy, well socialized puppy. Your puppy must be up to date with vaccines (2 distemper vaccines and kennel cough vaccine). During these play dates we will also teach owner about canine body language and communication. These puppy play dates will be based on size and energy levels. I would like to meet your puppy first to place them in the correct puppy play group.
Cost: $10.00 per puppy.
